About Gaffy's

The Gaffy family have been farming in the Goulburn Valley for three generations, and for the last 20 years have been growing lucerne under sprinkler irrigation by the banks of the Goulburn River. Michael and Kay are specialists in producing the finest quality lucerne hay, oaten hay, rye grass and teff hay for customers across Victoria and into New South Wales.

Every step of the hay production is geared to produce premium lucerne. Michael carefully manages the growing season, and when the lucerne is cut, it’s double conditioned by our Massey Ferguson self-propelled mower, to enable faster curing. Then it’s gently raked with a Berrema basket rake and baled with two New Holland small square balers fitted with moisture metres and scales. All hay is stored in our shed to preserve quality and colour, ensuring the hay is high in nutrition to supplement your livestock’s diet.

Our customers want the best quality lucerne hay for their animals, whether it’s for horses, cattle, sheep, alpaca's and even guinea pigs and pet rabbits. Avid gardeners use our mulch for their gardens too.

Gaffy's specialise in producing lucerne for the racing industry where the nutritional content and feed quality of our hay is highly sort after. All the lucerne and hay is naturally cured without chemicals to meet the requirements of the thoroughbred industry.

HORSES FOR HOPE IS A REGISTERED CHARITY SUCCESSFULLY PROVIDING EQUINE ASSISTED THERAPY FOR PEOPLE LIVING WITH THE EFFECTS OF TRAUMA, MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES AND CONDITIONS SUCH AS AUTISM OR DISABILITIES. THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO ENGAGE SUCCESSFULLY WITH THE STANDARD “TALKING” TYPE THERAPIES AND SUBSEQUENTLY REMAIN AT SIGNIFICANT RISK. THE PROGRAM STARTED IN AN EFFORT TO ASSIST DISENGAGED YOUNG PEOPLE, BUT ITS SUCCESS HAS LED TO PEOPLE OF ALL AGES ATTENDING. HORSES ALSO COME TO THE PROGRAM FOR HELP IN RECOVERING FROM LIFE DIFFICULTIES AND TRAUMAS. HERE PEOPLE AND HORSES COME TOGETHER AND HELP EACH OTHER IN RECOVERY AND HEALING, UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF THE HORSES FOR HOPE TEAM.
